A  MANOR'S  A  MANOR  FOR  A'  THAT, Address by Anne Morham

Is there for honest friendliness
That hings richt here , an' a' that.
The paltry knave --- we pass him by,
though poor we are, for a' that.
For a' that an' a' that
Our daily toils an' a; that
Are done mid chat for a' that
Oor block fair buzzes wi' a' that!

For though on Waitrose fair we dine,
Wear working jeans and a' that,
For Robert Burns we dress up fine
The Manor born for a' that
We have the prof. an' lawyer braw
Who strut an' stare for a' that.
There's them wi' independent minds
Who join the fun for a' that.

A  lass can hae an Orkney twang,
Twa men frae Lancashire their sang,
But honest Scots within their hame
May welcome them for a' that.
A skilled physician's worth a' that
The pith o' sense at a hearty pace
An' the Dominie wi' lower tech.
Are highly prized for a' that.

Maintaining a' oor needs wi' care,
Wi' skill and patience oor Link's there,
Wi' a nae bother and worry nae mair
A smile's a smile for a' that.
The streams and damp. o' doon below,
Ye mark ma' words they've made a show
By soldiering on to stem the flow,
Though the Jannie's better at "go back slow"

Then let us pray that come what may,
(An' come it will for a' that)
That sense and worth o'er all the earth
Shall bear the gree an' a' that
For a' that an' a' that
Its comin' yet for a' that
There's Manors an' manners the world o'er
Shall friendly be for a' that
